Rainout Protocal

Post date: Apr 12, 2017 2:49:30 PM

There have been a lot of recent question and criticism regarding the timing of decisions to declare the games a rainout.  For purposes of clarity, here is the process used (for the last 17 years) to determine and communicate when games are rained out.

Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday Leagues

+ Scott prepares the field for play between 1-4 PM

+ If the fields are not playable, he advises the League Coordinator who updates the Rain Out Line (281-548-8802)

+ If the fields are playable, the next check of the fields is at ~6:30 PM when the umpires arrive to the field

+ If the fields are not playable at this time or anytime during league play, the umpire in charge (Rick) notifies

the League Coordinator who updates the Rain Out Line (281-548-8802)

Sunday COED League

+ Malcolm prepares the field for play between 9-11 AM

+ If the field is not playable, he updates the Rain Out Line (281-548-8802)

+ If the field is playable, the next check of the field  at 12:00 Noon when the umpires arrive to the field.

+ If the fields are not playable at this time or anytime during league play, the umpire in charge (Rick) notifies

the League Coordinator who updates the Rain Out Line (281-548-8802)

There is no need to send text or calls to your league coordinators or myself (John Kaskie) in between these times as we do not have time to sit at the fields all day when rain is in the area.......just are none of you would.  This is Houston, and anyone that has lived here for more than one year knows that rain in one area of Kingwood does not mean that it has rained at the field.  We work very hard to prepare the fields on days that it has rained and will wait until the last possible moment to declare games rained out..... I am sorry if this inconveniences those coming from long distances, but this is our process.  Feel free to e-mail me (John Kaskie) at jfkaskie@aol.com if you wish to discuss further.
